I was just in Forks a few weeks ago (my third trip in three years... where's my Mega-Fan Punch Card?). Before my first visit, I was curious about whether the town would match up with the way I pictured it in my head after reading the books. For those who have never been, here's what the real Forks and La Push look like:
| First Beach at dawn (Bella's cliffs in the background) |
| Me on First Beach at dawn. An unforgettable experience. |
| Path from Quileute Oceanside Resort to First Beach. |
| "Jacob Black's House" |
| The rez school, recently built |
| The town of La Push (old school in front). It's very, very small, and sadly poor. |
| Forks High School homecoming football game (they won!). |
| The high school has been completely torn down and redone, but this sign remains. |
| Tiny, TINY hospital. Think large ranch house. |
| Charlie's office! |
| Left: Thriftway, where Bella shops. Right: "Newton's" Outfitters, where she works. |
| Bridge over the Sol Doc (the Cullens' fictional house backs up to it) |
| Hiking in the Hoh. It really IS "so green." |
| Second Beach. I've been twice and have never seen a tide pool :( |
| (left) Book truck and (right) movie truck (not the actual one, but the actual license plate!) |
| "The Swans' House" |
Hope yall enjoyed the mini-Forks tour! It really is a beautiful place to visit, if you ever have the chance.

Amazing pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Would love to hear your thoughts - did Forks and LP match up with how you pictured them?
DeleteThank you for all the wonderful pictures :) I've never been, these are great :)
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome - I highly recommend going if you can!
DeleteGreat pix - I <3 LaPush! With all the hubbub in Forks winding down, I recommend visiting the film sites (e.g., Old St Helens & the Columbia River Gorge:)
ReplyDeleteI would love to do that someday!
DeleteI love it. I will go some day.
ReplyDeleteYou look a little like Bella in that first shot.
PS I want to rent Jacob's house!
ReplyDeleteIt looks cool but it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, just on the road to La Push and not actually in the town. We stopped for pictures though :)
DeleteIt must feel so surreal, like you expect wolves to slink out from behind the trees and Bella to lift her window to let Edward slip inside. If the pictures made me feel that close to the story then seeing it in person must have been overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteThat's EXACTLY how it feels. It's eerie! As you're driving there on these long, narrow roads cut into really tall forests, you expect to see the Cullens running through the woods. And La Push is so perfect for Jacob. Just my opinion, but I felt more of the Twilight atmosphere - could believe the story most easily - at La Push, especially at night. The whole area is absolutely magical.
DeleteThank you so much for posting these! Beautiful! Hopefully one day I'll be able to go :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get there! It's so different from my part of the country (southeast) and the natural beauty is soul-stirring.
DeleteThank you so much for sharing . It would be amazing to visit Forks. I still hope to some day. :o)
ReplyDeleteI doubt that the town or the reservation will change much, so you've got time. Add it to your bucket list. It's incredible.
